I've seen the most amazing thing today... ok.. not seen... but more like felt... i've seen countless sunrises and sunsets but nothing like today's...
Picture this:
I was out crabbing.... standing in the middle of nowhere... nowhere near the shore... and as we were lookin for crabs, i saw the sun slowly set... We were out in the sea from 5.45pm onwards till around 8+pm... so there i was standing right in line where the sun was setting... Creation... kept me in awe...
Then i got to see how sea creatures work... or how the sand looks brown but when u step on it or disturb it, i becomes black... and how the crabs kinda run in circles...
I managed to catch quite a few... maybe 10? or more i think...
Anyway... i saw this odd-crab-lookin thing and i went to catch it... 'cos it looked like 2 crabs on top of each other... curiousity got the better of me.. hahaha I DISRUPTED 2 CRABS MATING!!! oopsie-daisee..
I'm usually not scared but tonite, i have to admit, at one point i got quite scared... Yes i can swim... but Alice couldn't swim and Mike, her husband is a diver... we were out with 2 torchlights, a styrofoam box, 2 cray nets and 1 shrimp net... We were trying to walk back to shore in the dark... and suddenly, the tide got high and Alice panicked... so Mike had to guide her back... leaving me with the 2 cray nets... which by the way isn't light... So there i was trying to walk back to shore... But it came to a point where i couldn't reach the ground... and the sand in that area was soft. I was tip-toeing but the water level was at my nose area... and we were still quite far out from shore... 'cos when we went out in the afternoon, it was only at waist-level at the highest... and the rest of the guys were far away from us... still trying their luck for crabs... so at certain points i had to kinda swim but the currents and winds were too strong n instead of goin forward, i went back... But thank God... i managed to get back to shore... quite a scary experience.. normally if i didn't have anything in hand i won't be that scared... but the two cray nets were not helping me...
Oh yes... anyone knows what stepping in seaweed n coral's like? It's like stepping in a pool of jell-o... Slippery.. and squishy... n u could lose ur footing... ok... just a random thought i had... haha 'cos that's how it felt...
Also... it's wierd when u can feel shrimps or crabs jumping at your legs... or swimming through your legs...
We got to the city around 9.45pm and parked the car... looked for some food but saw the lion dance troupe instead so we stayed back to watch them in action... Pretty cool... after 19 long yrs... i got to see fire crackers... BOY WAS IT LOUD...
Alice n Mike ordered a porridge, a hor-fun and some tofu thing to share... THE STUPID HOR-FUN THAT HAD MORE VEG THAN ANYTHING ELSE COST A BLOODY $16.50... daylight robbery... that's what i'd call it... craziness... and there wasn't even much seafood in it... it kinda feels wierd being back to the days of porridges costing $7 minimum... n i regret not eating You-tiao when i was back... 'cos it cost $2.50 here... :(
Anywayz... my hair's almost dry now and i'm exhausted... so till then! :)
