Argh... met a dirty old man at the beach today....
Was writing my script when this guy who looked about 50yrs old sat at my table... He was saying hi and i thought he was just one of those friendly elderly pple who regularly smile at me and say hi... Anyway, he introduced himself... sat there for 15mins talking about rubbish... like abt single mums and what nots... asked where i lived, and what i was doing... Thank God i was smart enough not to tell him details... He said he was from Persia and that he just moved to dee why... I said the beach was nice... and he replied that he agreed and was going to try and come down every day... and swim maybe 3 or 4 times a week... LIKE I REALLY CARE... and throughout the 15mins conversation i was frantically looking around to see if there were people around... THere were a couple of walkers and joggers... And at the end... he was like... Oh ok... i shall see you around... before i go do you want my number? and i'm sitting there going... OH MY GOODNESS... I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME... ARGhghhhhhhhhhh
I hope he doesn't come up and talk to me again... RAHHhhhhh think i might bring like a whistle or something next time i go to the beach... grrr... he interupted my train of thought and inspiration for my script... i felt as if i was in a movie scene all gone wrong...
And yes... I had to sit on bird poo too... grrr

Had lunch with Dave klum... damn... he now knows my secret... haha oh well... Dave's like a big brother... he's wanting to give some editing work with me... so we'll work quite closely this yr... lots of commercial work... so that's cool... who knows if i get to fly somewhere for a shoot! :P

Oh it's bonar's birthday today... we got him a cake... and a prezzie... One black shirt for his performance, and a bag of coffee powder from Gloria Jeans... Caramel Nut flavored... so that he can use his coffee machine from Christmas...

Hmm oh and i saw nature in action yesterday during the camp and i was traumatised... all my students laughed at me 'cos we were in the midst of sharing... when i saw 2 mynahs and one magpie fighting in the air... i then realized they were trying to fight for some insect that was orange... The poor insect (aparantly it's a moth) managed to escape from their scuffle for about 2 secs before the magpie swooped and caught it in it's mouth... instincts took over and i ran and chased the magpie... screaming at it to put the insect down 'cos i thought it was a baby bird... -_-

Right.. enuff rambling... here's some pictures from the camp...

Sand Sculpture Competition
Just one of the many "works" from the sand sculpting competition... When we first got to the beach, the sand was nice and even... but after the competition, there were patches of sand everywhere...

Red Faces Night

Team 1 from NZ...
Image hosting by Photobucket

A revisitation of last year's most gross act of swallowing of toothpaste n other people's spit... but this time round, with chips that people spat out as "dip"... eww
Image hosting by Photobucket

Stephen THomas made a comment after that a guy should never try this stunt...
Image hosting by Photobucket

My hsemate Bonar and luke hendo "rowing a boat" only that the chairs they are sitting on is supposed to be toilet bowls... aparantly this is what the two guys get up to in the privacy of their own bathrooms...
Image hosting by Photobucket

Ok... now this is scary... men dressed up in leotards, and goodness... can someone teach them how to use the lipstick?
Image hosting by Photobucket

Luke Hendo as usual doing some kind of a wierd dance...
Image hosting by Photobucket

Jeff Crabtree (Principal and judge @ red faces night) laughing till he had tears...
Image hosting by Photobucket

Partly because of this... This act gave closure to the joke a couple of us played on Jeff, the principal, throughout whole of last year, by applying for a student named Rajul Singh... who is such a bad dancer but wanted to enrol in the dance course... he obviously got rejected and at the red-faces night, we played a video of Rajul showing his concerns that he was maybe too good to be a student and asked if Jeff wished for him to be a lecturer instead... At the end, Rajul came out and did a dance and confronted jeff on yet another rejection...

Today was supposed to be a quiet day until i got a phone call... i got half of what i wanted to do done... cleaned the house this morning and did the laundry... Then had lunch.... took Anita to Officeworks and then to the mall... i was about to do the grocery shopping when my phone rang... it was Stephen Thomas and he said that 2 out of our 3 projectors were down... this was at 3.15pm... and service started at 6pm... with the Parachute band... So i said i'd be down in abt an hr... 'cos i had to buy milk... juz got the necessary, drove straight to church... looked around for an extra bulb for the projector but found none... and got a call from Stephen (who was 30mins drive away 'cos he was going to drive down to alexandra to get a spare projector) sayin that the guys who were going to rent the projector was coming up instead...and he was going to be arriving at 4.45 - 5pm... so i said i was going to go home, put the milk in the fridge and change for the night service... That was 4.05pm... got home in ten mins, chucked stuff in the fridge... changed... and left straight away... got there around 4.45pm but at that time the guys were runnin late... so i set up the cameras first, and made sure everythin else was runnin properly.... and that the projectors were the only ones down... By the time they arrived with the projectors, it was 5.15pm and we were scrambling to get things done... all i could was watch and pray that it worked... well it did... 5mins before 6pm when the service was meant to start. *phew*
But it didn't stop there... i took my seat behind the sound desk so that i'd have an open view of the band... but Stephen came up and asked if i could help backstage 'cos i had blacks on... There was a mic swap for the normal band and Parachute band... so i said ok... only problem was i was wearing thongs... but so happened that for some reason before i left the house earlier, i felt i had to put a pair of socks and my shoes in the car... so i ran to the car, changed my footwear, ran backstage as i didn't know when things were going to happen... after the end of one song, Chris said to me that he didn't know the order of the service too so i had to run out and around to the auditorium to get a run sheet... got back in time to juz cool down and then had to go up front to collect the mini-pulpit and mike stand to the back. Then went back to the main auditorium... Stood at the back for a while because everyone was seated and i felt rude juz walking down the middle aisle and trying to get to my seat... After a while, i felt a tap on my shoulder... it was Andrea and she was sayin that the TV in the parents lounge was too soft and she wanted to know if i could help... well.. got there.. the buttons to the volume n programme control had been ripped out... the remote was nowhere to be found... so i said very cleverly.... Use somethin sharp... i knew there were sensors on the inside that could be prodded in order to change the volume... Michael did so with his set of keys... Pastor Phil was still speaking n everyone was still seated so i played with Jevon for a bit before heading out of the lounge... Was waitin for everyone to stand up during introduction to the band so that i could get my seat... the service was cool... did about 4 songs... and at the end... PPP had spoted Pst Richard Fowler who was in SIngapore for a couple of years... So i was determined to go up and say hi... besides he was once in charged of the TV ministry... I went up said hi... and HE REMEMBERED MY NAME!... i was so shocked that i juz shook his hand he said: Ok... stopped shaking my hand and give me a kiss... hahaha He then introduced me to his wife and said that we would meet up in 4wks when he gets back and have coffee... so that was cool... Dave Klum was speakin to him too and we set up a time for coffee for Tuesday morning at 10am at Manly... the students would still be at camp but i'm only going for Monday... Will go to the beach in the morning, meet DAve, then do some admin... and go to videocraft for the demonstration of the cameras with Wes n Stephen... Will be going out for dinner in CHatswood too as it's Bonar's birthday and we'll all be too stuffed to cook... 'cos their camp finishes at 2pm...

Anyway that was my day... Hope i can pack the books and do the next class' notes tomorrow... Shooting stills for water baptism tomorrow night so i have to be there at 5.15pm... and i havent been coughing as much... so that's pretty cool...Well i'm tired and going off to bed but before i go... here's some very random trivia... just because i'm Michelle and being random is part of who i am...

The world's oldest piece of chewing gum is 9000years old *ewww*

If the population of China walked past you in a single file, the line would never end because of the rate of reproduction *I'm surprised... NOT*

The average human body contains enough sulfur to kill all the fleas on an average dog.

Arachibutyrophobia is the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth *how very interesting...*

The names of all the continents end with the same letter they start with *never thought about that before*

Grapes explode when u put them in the microwave *hmm should i try? I'll put one in a bowl n cover it*

The word "lethologica" describes the state of not being able to remember the word you want...

Wearing headphones for just an hour will increase the bacteria in your ear by 700 times *ok... note to all camera operators*

The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping the length of a football field... *i wish i could do that...*

You're more likely to be a target for mosquitos if u consume bananas *someone remind me not to eat bananas in Singapore or in summer here*

If the world was tilted one degree more either way, the planet would not be habitable because the area around the equator would be too hot and the poles would be too cold. *amazing... should have included this in my Ethics essay on creationism*

The average person's left hand does 56% percent of the typing. *well in my case... almost 75%*

In medieval England, beer was often served with breakfast *now... how did these people do work?*

Right that's the end of those random trivia... Hope u learnt something reading it...

Oh also the network in the house is up and running so the housemates (Bonar and anita) and I are chatting over MSN... when our room's are like... next to each other.. hahaha how funny...
Ok... Bed timee.....

I den sat down at a bench that was quite wet... and was thinkin bout life... and it was kinda cool... 'cos out in the horizon... you could see rain... just that it didn't rain over our area... the beach was kinda quiet today... surf was small and it was kinda sea-weedy...

Oh i can't wait for whats going to happen in the next few weeks...
To end this entry, i just wanna say: "MICHELLE IS ONE HAPPY CAMPER..." for many reasons... *wink*

OK it's 10.39pm and i should be in bed... went to the doctors today under the command of Stephen... n i'm kinda glad i did go... although i didnt really wanna hear what she had to say...
She said that i had high fever... (that would explain my nasty headaches i've been getting the last couple of days) and i had a lung infection from the coughing... Plus because i had asthma, it made my coughing worse and it was called an asthmatic cough... Which would also explain why i've been feeling breathless and weak... So i've been asked to stay on my inhaler at least 3 times a day, with the rest of the medication... and in five days time if its still no better... she's putting me on a steriod inhaler... Right... and tomorrow night i'm directing... have a class... and many other things to do... lets hope i feel somewhat better so i can get things done... Doctor asked if i wanted a week's medical certificate for work n sch but i gently refused...

Today's visit to the doctor also proved my theory that my thermometer at home isn't working... 'cos when i got back from the doctor's it was giving me a reading of about 4 degrees lesser than what i got at the doctors... so my suspicion that i had a long time ago is right... oh well maybe it should go in the bin...

Right... i shall leave this entry here... just finished packing stuff i need for tomorrow and scanning stuff for anita...
Till the next entry... :) Don't worry about me... i'm fine... n i know when to stop...

Ah-Hah! First Official Lecture... and Michelle's still got the cold... The sky outside looks... gloomy... and the fact that i got up this morning to a bad-head and bad back... is not helping my nerves... Got a msg from therase at 6.30am askin if they had chapel...Well i was already half-awake by then but it did take me about 15mins to reply to her msg... Don't know why either... think my brains were procrastinating.
Lots to do today... i was up till about 1am this morning doing up notes for today's class...
Ok... i hear some of u exclaiming your disbelieves that i'm up at that time when i've got a virus... Yes wes... i remember u telling me viruses loves late nights... well here's some consolation.. the night before, the medication i had knocked me out... went to bed at 9pm and got up at ard 11am the next morning...

Anywayz... i'm soooooooo nervous... need to remember not to let it show too much though... well i've got abt 11pages of Theory... -_- Yeah the "exciting" stuff to teach on... figured i should just get it out of the way... so that we can concentrate on the practical and see how it can be applied... If i remember correctly, when i was in first year and mal was teaching, he did a touch and go in theory... so see how i go... i thought it would be better to overprepare... Have about 5 pages of hand outs too... to help the visualize the different theory concepts... Ahhh i can't believe this is happening... seems like this year's going to be a huge year... or well at least it will be a milestone in my career... at least i havent studied for the past few years for nothing...
There's still a lot of things i'm believing for to come to pass... things that i dreamt of as a kid but forgot all about it until lately...

Anita and Bonar are meant to be back today... and of course they didnt tell me their flight details... So i checked on the web and there seems to be only one flight in from Jakarta that landed about 1hr n 30mins ago... Tried calling their mobiles but couldnt get hold of them... maybe they're still going through customs...

Hmmm because i was awake... n not feeling as bad as i was two days ago... i've cleaned the kitchen bench... stove area and vacuumed the main areas that were used for the dinner... So it's all spick n span now... NExt thing is when they get back, i shall be giving a cleaning lecture... hahaha i've had enough of the weavels and the moths... every morning i'm waking up to the killing of moths... i'm just glad they're downstairs and not in my room... YEaaaaa I dont have to bring out the bins anymore! Did that last night... and when Bonar's back... that can be his "duty" hahaha... grr i hate those bins... love them for the ability to chuck out the rubbish... but hate the fact that they're nearly as tall as me... and heavy and the driveway's long... One day when i have the time and the light's good... i'll take a photo of the driveway while collecting the mail... I'm so lazy... i drive up the driveway, put the car in neutral next to the mailbox, pick up the mail, drive in the driveway, put it in neutral again... Manually open up the garage... reverse park.... and then go into the house... never to be seen again until i have to go out.. Acutally i'm quiet surprised i've been disciplined enough to open and close the garage door manually... could have just parked outside the house since anita's not back yet and doesnt have her car... Maybe it's the thought that if it rains, of the wind blows, my car gets dirty again... hahahaha
I've been enjoying the peace and quiet i get everytime i open up the door from a long day at work... but from today onwards... i'm pretty sure everytime i'm home, there'll be someone at home, with the tv switched on even if no one's watching, or music playin from the dvd player... or the rooms... bags of chips on the "Michelle's-so-proud-of-this-buy" coffee table... a full fridge... Not that it's really empty now 'cos of all the leftovers from the dinner... and... clutter.... I'm hopefully trying to keep that to a minimum but! Hahaha okok enuff said... well i was just writing down what i thought and not really filtering anything...

Right... time to take a shower in case the guys rock up at any min. in a cab... Hopefully...
And i just have to add... that... I HATE THESE COUGHING FITS!!!
GRrrrrrrr

it's 8pm n I'm ready for bed... my cold got worse today but i still went for the meeting this morning...
Oh last nite's dinner was a huge success... Pam left early 'cos of a migrane... Stephen left ard 9.30pm because the shire awaited him... Nathan n Michael Peaker left around 10.30pm and Em, Jo, Sam, Lise left ard 11pm.. Andrew came to pick Beth n the baby up so that i wouldnt have to drive out there again and boy am i glad 'cos as it is, i was already buggered n fighting the cold. Woke up this morning and felt like.... i dunno what word to use to describe how i felt... i was hot all over, had no voice.... and my nose and lungs felt congested... and u know the headache u get when u're all nasly n what nots? I'm glad i didn't have to drive into the city. Went in Brad fuller's car... BReakfast and the meeting was nice... had scrambled eggs on toast.. it ended around 11am and by the time we got back to the beaches and by the time i got back home, it was almost 12pm... thanx to the crazy road works on the wakehurst parkway... traffic was like that of a peak hour mornin...
Anyway i came home, chucked some clothes in the wash... didn't even have the strength to clean up the rest of the stuff from last night's dinner. Sat on the sofa and fell asleep but got up to hang the clothes... then spent the next 4.5hrs in bed... and got up when Stephen messaged me...
Had to get up to take a cold shower though, thought it might help the fever... after the cold shower, got down to doing business for this thailand trip...
God.... i'm so nervous... it's like my first big overseas gig!!! It would look quite good on my resume i reckon...
Initially we thought that i'd be doing small stuff like effects and then just documenting the trip on video... but after today's meeting, i was told that they wanted a multi-camera live shoot during the conference... and i had the responsibility of making a decision on the video equipment to be hired... by tonight... and there were going to be 3 projectors, 2 different switches for the screens, and i had to shoot voxpox stuff and edit them in the afternoon in time for the night sessions.... and there was going to be the WHAT IF? Times... just like CCC times... hmmmm think i might speak to Josh n Jeff about getting someone else on board... don't think i could do it all on my own... One thing i'm glad... I'll be working with Dan Sly (Sound guy) and Greg Yates (lighting)... pple whom i've worked with before... and feel comfortable with... The guy that's flying us over's very unasuming and nice... he's like the humblest person i might have met... he runs this big company thing... seems like he's got lots of capital if u see what he does in his company... it's called Opportunity International Australia and he seems to know quite a number of high-powered people... but he looks so... Nice... white-haired... dressed in berms and a shirt... and had... Butter n Jam on toast for breakfast... while the rest of us had like salmon, bacon and eggs, scrambled eggs... Oh... tried Watermelon and mint juice today... it was quite nice... Julie had a Watermelon, pineapple, ginger and mint juice... which i thought was quite wierd... she said it was nice but...

Ha i just realized how photo heavy my blog is... Boy am i glad that i've now got broadband... if not i would get frustrated waitin for my own blog to load... now.. Wouldn't that be funny??? imagine every entry with me lamenting how bad and slow the pages take to load... okok maybe not so bad... i've survived 1 year without the internet... 2 with broadband... now some people reading would be like... "WHAT??? MICHELLE WITHOUT THE NET???" hahaha well lets just say... the first year was..... Interesting... and the next two had its ups n downs... But it's ok... i've come out of it... And still running strong... That's all that matters... and may this year be one that is... GOOD! :)

Hmm right... bed time for Miss Tan... big day tomorrow... YEaaa not singing the national anthem alone!!!!

it's..... 15 past 12am and.. and surprise surprise... i'm still up!
haha ok actually i'm quite tired but i wanted to post something before i went to bed. This blog's becoming like a test of discipline... actually come to think of it, blogging's theraputic...
hmm done quite well today... managed to unpack all the luggages and some boxes. left with 3 boxes of books... even managed to print some pictures that i've been putting off for a while... Was printing Pam's photo and thought to myself: "since i've got it up, i might as well do it all in one shot." Need to either get somethin to fit under my study table so that i can put my printer and scanner close by. At the moment the printer's cleverly balanced on the CPU n Monitor. ARgh i hate this monster of a monitor... Oh well maybe in another yr when i decide what i'm doing i'll get a flat screen. But for now, that will do... Hmm maybe i can re-arrange my furniture with the help of 2 strong blokes who would be willing to come help me lift the table... cant be bothered packing away all the comp stuff and putting it together again... so I shall be on a hunt for 2 guys to help me on Friday nite at the '05 3rd years dinner, staff and 4th year students invited too...

Oh i'm so proud of myself... hahaha
Remember how i said i wanted a coffee table and a couch-thing?
I GOT IT ALL!
A bargain for the coffee table... Brand new in Target, reduced from $190 to $49.95 to $39.95... i didn't wait any further... it's nice too... fits the furniture and walls... And the couch... oh my goodness... got one that doesn't look too yuck or dirty from good ol' vinnies for $10. It was going to cost $45 to get it delivered so Kathryn and I thought... umm Stuff it... But the guy at vinnies was quite nice and helped us... we managed to put it in her boot... and tied down her boot... I was quite nervous especially going up that big hill from the mall unto warringah road... I think quite a number of people stared at us... But we got home fine... just had to drive really carefully that's all... It's a single seater couch and it fits everything perfectly... currently got the massage pad on it... and it's... Oh so nice...
Had BBQ at Pam's house last nite... nice to see everyone from the connect group again. We watched the Winter Olympics Opening ceremony and left around 11pm... maybe it was later... Thanx Pam, again, if u're reading this entry...
actually i just remembered... i went to bed only at 3am last nite... and i can't remember what i was doing... now that's bad...

ok my eyes are starting to feel heavy... and i'm feeling hungry so i think i'll go to bed now... and hopefully i can actually fall asleep... till laterz...

*drum roll.....* and Michelle's back online!!!
Yeah!!!

Hmm thought i'd just leave an entry juz to let people know i'm still alive and kicking.
The house is seriously.... very... very... very quiet....

And the year has officially started. I'm kinda excited and nervous all at the same time. Don't know how i'll do this year but have had quite a number of encouragements that college wouldn't have asked me if they didn't think i could do it.
It was a long day and poor michelle's kinda drained.... like they say... it doesn't take long for me to get back into the busy lifestyle... But i must make sure i try to stick to my new year resolution. hahaha
Did something today that i regret... with all my heart.... ahha ok no it's not that bad... But i've got an evil plan to rectify that matter...Muahaha *evil laughter* if the person turns up for dinner next Friday night... Having a '05 3rd year dinner at my place while i've still got an empty house... So which means my plans for tomorrow's having to be changed again. Was going to spend the whole day packing... But kathryn's going to come over in the arvo to go shopping with me... need to get a coffee table and a couch thing... if not people won't have a place to seat hahaha... Prolly get those Bean bag ones... easy to store and move... just chuck out the beans and get new ones to replace it... besides, a bag of beans are only cheap. Could get a cheap couch from vinnies but when i have to move again, it'll be a pain.... Think i might get the coffee table from vinnies though... And it' wont be a big one 'cos it'll have to fit in my car... HOW? I DONT KNOW but i'll figure something out tomorrow... Shall conquer one thing at a time... and yes i finally figured out how to lock the garage door hahaha.... all i needed to do was turn the key a couple more times... i was afraid that i would break the key... oh well better late than never...
Hmm ok i think i shall leave this entry here and go get some beauty sleep... it's been a long day... wierd how sitting still and listening to someone talk all day could be so draining... Or maybe trying to concentrate and not get too distracted by other things or people made me feel drained... OR... it could be the packing of the edit suite that got me...
The staffs were been spoilt today... lunch and teas were all provided for.... Thanx Pam n Jeff oh and Anne henderson for that lovely carrot cake.. now i know why hendo married her.. nah juz joking.. I just wish i could have turned back time... and mustered up the courage to do what i wanted to do.. ok some of u reading are scratching your heads and the rest of you who actually know... :) ... Sigh... never mind... I'm sure things will happen if it's meant to happen...

K gotta go before i don't stop... and the oil burner's runnin out of water... YEa!!! connect group at pam's house tomorrow... BBQ... hmm wonder what i should bring...
